Trade-a-thon

Embarking on a Historical Journey
At Hasanat High School, Phenomenon-Based Learning (PhBL) brings history to life, and this year’s Trade-a-Thon did just that! Students embarked on an exciting journey along the ancient Silk Route, tracing the paths once traveled by Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese merchants. More than just trade, this route was a bridge connecting civilizations, ideas, religions, and cultures, offering students a rich canvas to explore.

Discovering Ancient Civilizations
Students were divided into teams representing the three great civilizations. Each team delved into the fascinating aspects of their assigned culture — from daily life and clothing to monumental architecture and governance. They researched currencies, trade commodities, and iconic artifacts, developing a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of the ancient world.

Exploring Art, Cuisine, and Traditions
Beyond trade and history, students explored the cultural richness of their civilizations. They recreated traditional monuments, experimented with local cuisines, and learned traditional arts and crafts. These activities allowed students to immerse themselves in the sensory experiences of ancient times, understanding how trade influenced lifestyle, art, and social customs.

Teamwork and Creativity in Action
The Trade-a-Thon emphasized collaboration and creativity. Teams brainstormed, planned, and executed their projects with enthusiasm, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills. From designing mini-exhibits to preparing cultural performances, each student played an active role, reflecting the spirit of hands-on, experiential learning that PhBL encourages.

A Grand Showcase of Learning
The unit culminated in an exciting Showcase, where students presented their findings and creations to peers, teachers, and parents. Artifacts were displayed, cultural performances enacted, and cuisines shared — all celebrating global connections and learning. The event not only highlighted knowledge and research but also fostered creativity, teamwork, and a sense of pride in discovering the wonders of history.
